By now you have probably figured out I am a firm believer in taking care of the whole self. I get a lot of eye rolls for this, but the reality is, when I’m in balance and take care of my whole self, I find peace, happiness, joy… You can be physically healthy as a horse, but if your emotional or spiritual health is lacking, you won’t truly feel your best.
My biggest challenge is running on all cylinders. If I get a handle on my physical health, it seems like another area suffers. This balancing act could be a full time job! Can I get an Amen?
It’s reassuring to know God cares about our whole self.
Here are 3 different translations of this verse about our whole self, with the last one being my favorite!
1 Thessalonians 5:23-24 (NIV)
May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
The one who calls you is faithful, and he will do it.
1 Thessalonians 5:23 (NKJV)
Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it.
1 Thessalonians 5:23
(The Message)
May God himself, the God who makes everything holy and whole, make you holy and whole, put you together—spirit, soul, and body—and keep you fit for the coming of our Master, Jesus Christ.
The One who called you is completely dependable. If he said it, he’ll do it!
If he said he’ll do it, he’ll do it!
I love that promise!! Humans will fail us and break promises, but God won’t.
Take some time today to care care of your whole self. Quiet yourself, identify what you are lacking, and pray for guidance to restore those areas.
