Hunger

Hunger. Not something I can thankfully say I have experienced, except in my younger days when I tried those crappy “diets” where you don’t eat.

It’s something I think God has put on my mind lately by leading me to a book I’m reading (so good that it will get its own post later)

During my digging I found an interesting website. I pulled myself away from Netflix and Facebook long enough to check it out.

Ouch. The statistics are overwhelming when you actually think about them.

About 9 million people a year die from hunger or hunger related illnesses. 9 million. Let me say that again. 9 million.

I miss one meal and my brain can’t think of anything else but food. I clean the table after dinner and feed the dogs the wasted left overs from every stinking meal. It’s ridiculous.

Roughly a third of the world’s food is wasted. A THIRD.

So what can we do?

We can start by reducing our own food waste. Donate to food banks and hunger organizations. Many organizations work on the global hunger front. Check out https://www.concernusa.org/story/solutions-to-hunger/

Pray for those going to bed hungry and remember them the next time you are “starving” because your pizza takes too long to get delivered.

For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me,
